The Adult/Adolescent Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner graduate certificate equips registered nurses with specialized training to become certified SANE professionals for adult and adolescent patients. These nurses deliver holistic care to survivors of sexual violence while performing forensic examinations and potentially serving as expert witnesses in court proceedings. Certification is granted by the International Association of Forensic Nurses' Commission on Forensic Nursing Certification. Eligibility requires nurses with at least two years of full-time experience to complete 40 hours of specialized training, gain supervised clinical practice with a certified SANE, demonstrate examination proficiency, and pass a certification exam. Coursework is available both in-person and online at Kent Campus, with practical training occurring at Cleveland Clinic Akron General's Sexual Assault Evidence Collection and Care Facility.
