The Bachelor of Science in Education with an Earth Science specialization equips students for teaching certification in earth science for grades 7 through 12. The curriculum encompasses diverse subjects including biology, chemistry, geography, and physics, with a focused emphasis on geological studies. Core subject classes are primarily finished within the initial three years, while teaching methodology courses commence in the spring semester of the third year. During their final year, students wrap up any remaining content classes, complete science education methods courses, and undertake a year-long field experience in a nearby school district, culminating in a 13-week student teaching practicum during spring term. Early academic advising is strongly recommended for Earth Science majors, as numerous courses require careful planning and sequential completion.
