The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Design, Technology, and Production cultivates the creative growth of future theatre designers, technicians, and craftspeople. The program blends instruction in classical theatre techniques with innovative approaches, materials, and technologies. Progress is assessed yearly through portfolio evaluations, academic performance, and production involvement. Each semester, students undertake a major production role as part of their training.

Graduates will possess the skills to implement design and technical solutions for the university's theatre and dance performances. Kent State's Center for the Performing Arts features three performance spaces, rehearsal areas, scene and costume workshops, plus specialized labs for costumes, technical drawing, lighting, and set construction. The School of Theatre and Dance also manages the open-air Porthouse Theatre performance space.
