Graduate students in Animal Sciences and Industry (ASI) working toward an M.S. in physiology will engage in a broad, multidisciplinary curriculum that may involve various species such as cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, goats, and poultry. The physiology coursework and seminars extend across ASI and collaborating departments like statistics, biochemistry, biology, psychology, and anatomy and physiology. Students can enhance their teaching abilities by participating in ASI's robust undergraduate program, with many also supporting state and regional extension initiatives. Research opportunities span diverse physiological domains, from foundational studies in molecular, cellular, and tissue functions to translational work in endocrinology, gamete biology, embryology, stress responses, immunology, and neurobehavioral processes, as well as applied research in reproduction, health, behavior, and animal welfare. This physiology-focused graduate training equips students for careers in animal and biotech industries, research, education, technical services, consulting, extension programs, and other animal physiology-related fields.
