The Public Health Core Concepts certificate program provides working professionals and graduate students without formal public health training with essential knowledge across five key public health domains: biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health sciences, health services administration, and social/behavioral sciences. This curriculum mirrors the core requirements for Kansas State University's Master of Public Health (MPH) program, meeting accreditation standards set by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). Below are the fundamental competencies for each discipline:
Biostatistics: Managing health data through collection, storage, retrieval, and interpretation; designing health surveys and experiments; applying statistical analysis methods.
Epidemiology: Studying disease patterns, causes, and impacts across populations; examining population characteristics and disease progression.
Environmental Health Sciences: Assessing biological, physical, and chemical factors influencing community health.
Health Services Administration: Overseeing health program development, management, assessment, and policy evaluation.
Social and Behavioral Sciences: Applying social science principles to identify and address public health challenges.
