The Industrial and Organizational Psychology PhD program at Kansas State University equips students for professional roles in consulting, corporate environments, government organizations, and academia. Established in the late 1950s, the program has maintained its present structure since 1976. Doctoral students, irrespective of their specialization focus, must acquire comprehensive knowledge in general psychology encompassing theories, subject matter, and methodologies. This foundation is built through mandatory core coursework covering both quantitative and substantive psychological domains. Applicants holding a Master's degree might need to complete a Master's-level project if their prior thesis, as evaluated by their advisor and another faculty member in their field, is deemed inadequate in quality or lacks empirical research basis.
