Faculty in the Development field conduct interdisciplinary research on lifespan development. They apply Bronfenbrenner's ecological perspective to examine human development within various contexts. Their research interests cover the entire lifespan, from early childhood cognition to studies on aging and gerontology. These scholars champion an integrated developmental science approach to analyze the complex systems shaping human experiences, aiming to enhance individual, family, and community wellbeing. They further Cornell's land-grant mission through research-driven outreach initiatives via New York State's Cooperative Extension network.
Available research resources include: specialized perception and cognition labs, social psychology research spaces with experimental and observational capabilities, electrophysiology and histology labs, surgical suites, animal research facilities, photography and workshop spaces, an educational technology studio, computer labs with experimental control and data analysis capabilities, and various specialized on- and off-campus research locations.
