Our department provides comprehensive academic and research training in Neuropsychology Specialization for doctoral candidates. This curriculum gives students a scientific foundation for understanding human behavior in relation to both typical and atypical central nervous system functioning. Students gain exposure to diverse methodologies employed in examining the neurological underpinnings of cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functions. The program emphasizes the complex relationship between brain function and physical well-being, particularly regarding racial and ethnic health disparities. With its strong research focus, students must begin a faculty-mentored research project during their initial graduate year. Our objective is to prepare graduates for neuropsychology research careers in academic and scientific environments. Historically, our students have collaborated on research projects across multiple Medical School departments including Psychiatry, Neurology, and Human Genetics, as well as various Graduate School disciplines. Some have also pursued research opportunities at the National Institutes of Health under expert guidance.
