Physical therapists (PTs) partner with physicians, surgeons, and medical teams to create comprehensive treatment strategies for prevention, rehabilitation, and functional patient support. JWU Providence's Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program educates future professionals for clinical practice in this expanding healthcare sector.
Leveraging JWU's strengths in health sciences, wellness, and nutrition, this intensive 8-semester program equips graduates to pass the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) and begin practicing as licensed physical therapists. Throughout the curriculum, students master the skills to conduct thorough PT evaluations, make accurate diagnoses, establish prognoses, and execute effective treatment plans.
Featuring 90 hours of hands-on clinical training, community service opportunities, and a culminating research project, JWU's DPT program develops adaptable professionals prepared for diverse PT settings, from outpatient clinics to hospital rehabilitation units and home healthcare environments.
