The Biology bachelor's program equips students with essential critical thinking abilities and scientific knowledge for advanced studies or careers in biological sciences. Through biology, learners explore life's governing principles, from cellular biochemistry to ecosystem dynamics, enabling them to tackle biological challenges affecting humans and their surroundings.
Graduates will achieve these learning outcomes: Master core biological concepts including evolution, structure-function relationships, information systems, and energy transformations across biological scales, Effectively convey scientific knowledge through verbal, written, and visual formats, Assess and interpret scientific data, Utilize scientific methodology and analytical reasoning to investigate biological questions, Employ quantitative and computational approaches alongside interdisciplinary knowledge to explain biological processes, Address ethical considerations in biological research and practice, and Understand biology's societal impact, including historical milestones in modern biological discoveries.
Biomedical Science specialization graduates will: Utilize microbiology, biochemistry, and immunology principles to analyze host-microbe relationships at cellular and molecular levels and Apply human anatomy, physiology, and histology knowledge to clinical problem-solving.
Environmental Studies specialization graduates will: Integrate economic, social, political, and biological science approaches to solve environmental challenges.
The curriculum establishes a robust foundation in biological principles, covering life's molecular basis, organismal structure-function, and ecological relationships. Interdisciplinary physical science courses encourage integration of biology with chemistry and physics, fostering future scientific innovation. Faculty employ evidence-based teaching methods including active classroom learning and laboratory inquiry, supplemented by valuable internship experiences. These student-focused approaches emphasize problem-solving and hands-on training, cultivating skills vital for scientific careers. Graduates pursue diverse paths including biological technology, forensic science, environmental analysis, microbiology, medical laboratory science, zoology, and wildlife biology, with additional opportunities in healthcare, education, and business sectors.
