The Bioethics and Health Policy concentration prepares students to make bioethics the defining feature of their public health career. This program stands apart from other bioethics doctoral offerings through two key distinctions: its emphasis addresses ethical challenges in public health and policy rather than clinical practice dilemmas, and it delivers comprehensive training in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Doctoral candidates in this program undertake original research involving empirical data analysis across public health, health policy, or health research domains while exploring associated ethical considerations. Graduates emerge capable of formulating ethical policy recommendations while possessing the skills to conduct independent empirical research at the intersection of bioethics, public health, and health policy.
