The Biology Program aims to offer students a comprehensive selection of courses spanning various disciplines and career opportunities within the biological sciences. Our curriculum encompasses subjects like cellular, molecular, and organismal biology, ecology and evolution, health sciences, biotechnology, and environmental studies. These classes enable students to pursue their biological interests, participate in hands-on laboratory and fieldwork applying the scientific method, and discover diverse career possibilities in the field. Graduates with a biology concentration may fulfill prerequisites for healthcare programs like nursing, satisfy transfer institution graduation criteria, or earn an Associate in Science degree with a focus on biology, health sciences, or environmental studies.
Alongside core major or health-related coursework, foundational studies in other sciences are typically advised and essential for higher-level education. The biology department recommends students take complementary chemistry, physics, and mathematics courses alongside their biology core classes. Prospective transfer students should review four-year institution prerequisites or consult with biology faculty or academic advisors when selecting elective courses.
