MSE graduate students are deeply engaged in researching cutting-edge materials solutions across diverse fields including: Energy storage and transmission systems, Next-generation manufacturing and materials processing techniques, Advanced vehicle and propulsion technologies, Biomaterials and medical applications, Nanoscale materials, and Smart responsive materials. These scholars collaborate extensively with our cross-disciplinary faculty to tackle pressing global challenges while uncovering novel avenues for technological breakthroughs. Our international student body represents a broad spectrum of technical backgrounds, leading to equally varied career trajectories. Many alumni emerge as pioneering figures in academia, research institutions, industrial sectors, healthcare, business leadership, and government roles. The department provides three graduate degree pathways: the research-intensive PhD program, the Master of Science (with thesis or portfolio options), and the coursework-focused Master of Engineering. Additionally, we feature two combined degree programs (BS/MS and BS/MEng).
