The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering provides a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Systems Technology (AST). AST majors can select from two specialization tracks: Agricultural and Biosystems Management or Machine Systems. Additionally, the department provides a minor program in Agricultural Systems Technology. AST graduates develop expertise in technical problem-solving, design processes, leadership development, safety awareness, quality focus, project management, and systems-oriented thinking. This comprehensive training enables graduates to integrate scientific, technological, and engineering concepts for managing intricate agricultural and production systems, considering both component interactions and wider system impacts.
Career opportunities for graduates span diverse agricultural sectors, including farm machinery, heavy equipment, food processing, grain handling, water management, bioenergy, precision farming, and animal production systems.
