Agriculture extends beyond cultivation—it encompasses food systems, energy production, and environmental stewardship. Rural areas represent more than isolated communities; they serve as vital connections between urban centers, consumers, and worldwide markets. This program equips students to shape policies affecting agriculture, ecosystems, and rural populations. Essentially, our focus is the human and governance aspects of agricultural systems. The curriculum explores societal and policy perspectives on farming while developing approaches to strengthen rural sustainability and community development. Students will gain skills to facilitate difficult conversations, foster collaborative initiatives, and administer policy projects. We aim to provide the knowledge needed to support rural prosperity in modern times. The program offers adaptable coursework tailored to individual goals. Students must complete a concentration outside the major. Hands-on experiences through internships, practical learning, and international study opportunities form key components of the program.
