The Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences provides four specialized degree paths (production, science, turfgrass, and soil, water, and land management) while overseeing the cross-disciplinary Environmental Sciences program. These programs equip students for diverse professional opportunities across sectors including turfgrass management, agricultural supply businesses (such as manufacturers of fertilizers and pesticides), agricultural advisory services (like soil analysis labs and private consulting firms), environmental assessment and regulation, public agricultural support organizations (for instance, the Agricultural Extension System or Natural Resources Conservation Service), research institutions and corporate entities, USDA positions, academic institutions and research stations, agricultural operations, and environmental protection agencies.
