Tailored for students pursuing leadership roles in library and nonprofit management. The curriculum focuses on developing specialized skills in administering special library initiatives, fundraising and endowment oversight, capital project coordination, and executive leadership within academic, corporate, or major public library settings.

The combined MLIS/M.A. in Philanthropic Studies program mandates at least 51 graduate-level credit hours. Candidates must apply to both the Library and Information Science Department and the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy's master's programs during their first year, satisfying each program's distinct admission requirements. Both degrees are conferred concurrently upon completion.

Qualification Requirements

All programs require a bachelor's degree and a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is optional for master's applicants. Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or 3.2 in the latest graduate degree or representative graduate hours. GRE scores are required for applicants not meeting minimum GPA requirements. TOEFL iBT of 79-99 or IELTS of 6.5-7.0 will take the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) placement test.
