The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics is a degree program provided by Purdue University through its Department of Mathematical Sciences.
As one of humanity's oldest and most essential scientific disciplines, mathematics focuses on quantitative relationships expressed through numerical and symbolic representations. Professionals in this field employ mathematical theories, computational methods, algorithms, and cutting-edge technology to address challenges across economics, science, engineering, physics, and business sectors.
IUPUI offers students four specialized concentration paths: actuarial science, applied mathematics, applied statistics, or theoretical mathematics.
The actuarial science track equips students with robust mathematical, statistical, and economic foundations for financial risk assessment. Graduates emerge ready to complete the initial three professional actuarial certification exams while fulfilling coursework requirements for two of the three VEE (Validation by Educational Experience) components mandated by actuarial accreditation bodies.
