The Master of Arts can be pursued either as a final degree or as part of a combined M.A./Ph.D. program. In either path, the M.A. coursework provides comprehensive training in art history and the discipline's theoretical frameworks. Students complete their M.A. with a thesis involving original research on a chosen topic, developed through close collaboration with faculty advisors. The program covers diverse art historical fields including: African, Ancient Greek and Roman, Asian, Contemporary, Islamic, Late Antique and Byzantine, Medieval European, Modern European and American, and Renaissance and Baroque art.
