The Vision Science Ph.D. program welcomes exceptional students from around the globe. Featuring premier programs in biology, optics, imaging, and vision studies, this degree equips you for research careers in academia or industry while facilitating weekly engagement with field experts. Doctoral candidates must enroll in and attend the weekly Vision Science Seminar (Oxyopia, derived from the Greek term for sharp sight) each term. These regular sessions feature presentations by optometry faculty, graduate researchers, and guest speakers discussing their latest work - or provide opportunities for you to showcase your own research.
Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution and evidence of academic potential to complete an advanced degree
Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25
Applicants whose native language is not English should submit proof of such proficiency by the time they apply for admission. Normally this is done by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Results of this test should be submitted as part of the application for admission.
