Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) are expanding disciplines with diverse uses across environmental science, national defense, population studies, intelligence gathering, forestry, disaster response, ecological conservation, climate research, city development, law enforcement, food security, and farming. At Indiana University Bloomington, the Geography department serves as the primary hub for GIS and Remote Sensing education. Our GIS/RS program equips students with expertise in processing, organizing, and utilizing spatial data through digital mapping analysis. This curriculum provides practical training for examining complex societal and ecological patterns.
