The Early Music Department provides bachelor's and master's programs centered on historically informed performance using period instruments, enhanced by music theory and scholarly research in early music. Its research division, the Historical Performance Institute (HPI), produces publications, recordings, and organizes conferences focused on early music traditions. International students are attracted to study period instruments and vocal techniques under our globally recognized instructors. Being part of a leading university, the department and HPI collaborate with other disciplines such as music history, literary studies, medieval scholarship, linguistics, and visual arts.
