The ceramics workshop is situated in the Art Annex, boasting over 6,200 square feet of workspace. This well-equipped studio features dedicated indoor and outdoor kiln zones housing 15 kilns, 16 pottery wheels, separate clay and glaze preparation rooms, and a comprehensive raw materials storage area. The exceptional quantity of large kilns and the studio's unique layout enable students to undertake projects of a scale rarely possible in academic ceramics programs. Additionally, alongside standard studio coursework, specialized training in glaze formulation and kiln construction enhances the program's professional focus. Students can experiment with diverse firing methods including Raku, soda firing, high-temperature reduction, low-temperature techniques, wood firing, and other innovative approaches. The close placement of 3-D studios near the ceramics facility encourages exciting cross-media collaborations.
