Art creation in the modern era presents artists with diverse opportunities across conceptualization, technological application, material selection, and thematic depth. Although contemporary artists rely on evolving technologies and can utilize various digital tools for artistic production, Wood-Metal Design focuses on handcrafted works that preserve the fundamental connection between materials, techniques, and human creativity within this field. The Wood-Metal Design program consists of three integrated courses. These classes combine technical skill development with conceptual exploration, covering both traditional fabrication methods and modern artistic approaches. Students in the Wood-Metal program will work with numerous established techniques, including soldering, shaping, basic joinery, laminating, mold creation, and casting. The wood/metals studio serves as a comprehensive workshop for fine woodworking and small-scale metal fabrication.
