Physician Assistants (PAs) are trained medical professionals who collaborate with doctors to deliver comprehensive patient care. They conduct thorough medical evaluations, carry out physical exams, request and analyze diagnostic tests like lab work and imaging, and provide diagnoses and treatments. PAs play a vital role in expanding healthcare access for disadvantaged populations across both cities and rural areas. Idaho State University hosts Idaho's sole Physician Assistant Program, which holds ongoing accreditation from the ARC-PA (Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant). Program completers qualify to sit for the PANCE (Physician Assistant National Certification Exam) offered by the NCCPA (National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants).
