Mechanical Engineering Technicians (MET) operate and maintain mechanical and rotating machinery utilized in electrical power generation and industrial facilities, including compressors, pumps, hydraulic systems, and steam boilers. They partner with engineers and scientists to create, test, implement, and service power generation equipment, mechanical components, and other devices. These technicians bridge the responsibilities of engineers, technologists, and scientists with those of skilled tradespeople. Explain and implement safety protocols in laboratory and industrial settings. Recognize and utilize societal and regulatory codes and standards. Choose suitable testing tools to diagnose and evaluate mechanical systems along with electrical, electronic, and motor control circuits. Explain core mechanical concepts, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, material science, and equipment design.
