Elementary education equips future teachers with the skills to instruct students from preschool through 8th grade. Those pursuing a bachelor's degree in this field must fulfill requirements including the Professional Education Core (44 credits), Elementary Education Required Courses (34 credits), and at least one Subject Area Endorsement. Early consultation with the College of Education Advising during the first semester at ISU is highly recommended. Educators-in-training apply research-backed teaching methods to foster students' holistic growth across social, emotional, behavioral, and academic domains. They develop comprehensive content knowledge to create meaningful learning experiences. Through strategic assessment and evidence-based instruction, they make informed decisions to enhance student development. These teaching candidates demonstrate professional qualities that positively influence students' overall growth.
