Students enrolled in an accelerated undergraduate program have the opportunity to complete graduate-level courses approved by their department as part of their bachelor's curriculum. These credits apply toward both their undergraduate and graduate degrees, satisfying major requirements, upper-division coursework, or elective credits. For information about accelerated programs at Idaho State University, refer to (Degree Requirements).
After admission to an accelerated degree program, students should maintain regular contact with their academic advisor regarding Graduate School admission and the master's program at Idaho State University. While accelerated program acceptance during undergraduate studies initiates the admissions process, a separate Graduate School application is required for all such programs. The Chemistry Department provides an accelerated BS/MS pathway for high-achieving undergraduates in Chemistry and Biochemistry. Participants earn distinct bachelor's and master's degrees, with the BS available in either Chemistry or Biochemistry and the MS exclusively in Chemistry. This program enables students to finish a standard BS in four years while simultaneously taking 5000-level courses that fulfill both undergraduate and graduate requirements. Combined with summer research, these credits accelerate MS completion to just one additional year, minimizing the time and expense of earning a graduate degree.
