FSU-Teach offers a groundbreaking model for teacher preparation, bringing together science, math, and education experts at Florida State University. Chemistry students enrolled in FSU-Teach will gain comprehensive theoretical knowledge in chemistry and biochemistry while acquiring practical teaching skills. The program covers tuition for the initial two Education/Teaching prerequisite courses. Participants can access work-study opportunities with researchers, mathematicians, and nearby schools. Additional details are available at http://fsu-teach.fsu.edu/.
This program requires a dual major. Students first enter their primary STEM major (Chemical Science in this case), fulfilling all standard prerequisites, then apply for the Secondary Science or Mathematics Teaching (SSMT) major through the College of Education. Graduates earn a B.S. degree with dual majors in Chemical Science/FSU-Teach and SSMT.
