The Howard University Design Program aims to cultivate extensive expertise, abilities, and proficiencies in visual communication via interdisciplinary learning opportunities. This is accomplished by exploring theoretical concepts and implementing acquired methods in practice. The curriculum reconnects student artists with fundamental design principles.
Students engage in a rigorous program focusing on visual and technology-driven communication, gaining skills to recognize, investigate, evaluate, and address challenges at different scales while generating diverse solutions, technical specifications, and prototypes.

High School Academic Records - For admission consideration, students must submit academic records for grades nine to twelve (or thirteen).
Letters of Recommendation- Howard University requires two letters of recommendation for admission consideration. While you may assign recommenders via Common App/Naviance to submit additional letters, only two will be guaranteed to be considered as part of our review.
Application Essays - As part of the Common Application, students must submit the main Common Application essay as part of their application.
IELTS - a minimum overall band score of 6.5, with no individual band score below 6.0.
