Recent advancements in Geographic Information Science (GIS) and Technology are reshaping our environment and society, altering natural and social behaviors across the globe. Grasping the technical and theoretical foundations of GIS is crucial for educating a new cohort of students to develop and implement GIS solutions for environmental, natural resource, and societal challenges, which subsequently influence our ever-changing world. The Department of Geography and Sustainability offers an extensive curriculum that encompasses the discipline's three core domains: human geography, physical geography, and geospatial analysis. Courses in the department enable students to investigate the connections between human actions and natural systems. By taking geography courses, students should acquire factual knowledge, enhance critical thinking, and build analytical abilities. Geography education equips students to identify locations, understand the reasons for their placement, recognize differences between places, comprehend how human activities shape and are shaped by the environment, and analyze human-environment dynamics. Universal Tracking (uTrack) is an academic monitoring system that assists students in maintaining progress toward timely graduation. To stay on course, students must fulfill the minimum requirements for each tracking term, referred to as milestones. Milestones involve successfully completing designated courses and/or achieving a minimum GPA. uTrack requirements apply solely to full-time, degree-seeking students.
