Geographic Information Systems, or GIS, are computer-based tools that collect, process, analyze, and visualize spatial (geographic) data. GIS integrates maps with databases to enable powerful analysis of physical space-related information. In the GIS curriculum, you'll master visualizing data to uncover relationships, patterns, and trends using computer software for: practical abilities and software applicable to GIScience careers, foundational theories and concepts guiding optimal GIS technology and data use, and project management expertise from initiation to completion—covering time management, data preparation, analysis, visualization, and final reporting.
