Designed for students lacking formal coursework or teaching background in secondary or special education at the adolescent level. This 49-credit hour dual graduate pre-service program prepares candidates for New York State's initial/professional certification to teach grades 7-12 in subjects like social studies, math, sciences, English, or foreign languages, along with a Students with Disabilities 7-12 generalist certification with content area extensions. The curriculum combines campus-based instruction with diverse school-based fieldwork, concluding with a full-time student teaching placement. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on integrating literacy, multicultural education, and technology, with particular attention to addressing special learning requirements.
