This focused M.Ed. program in secondary education offers an intensive route for highly qualified individuals with bachelor's degrees pursuing initial teaching credentials. This concentrated M.Ed. curriculum delivers an efficient track for exceptional post-baccalaureate candidates working toward their first teaching certification. Participants can obtain certification following two terms of combined fieldwork and academic studies, allowing them to finish their master's degree while employed as salaried educators.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) mandates several background screenings throughout the Educator Preparation Program. Certain criminal history records may disqualify candidates from receiving teaching certification upon program completion.
Program alumni become eligible for diverse positions including instructional specialists, educational advisors, curriculum developers, academic team leaders, department administrators, teacher mentors, and textbook writers. The program also provides strong preparation for advanced doctoral studies.
