This bachelor's degree program provides students with foundational knowledge in scientific principles related to disease prevention, nutritional science, exercise program design, and health assessment methods. The curriculum also covers fundamental psychological, legal, and business concepts relevant to clinical, wellness, and fitness environments.
Hands-on training includes a student fitness trainer practicum and a culminating internship during the senior year at external locations. During the practicum, participants create and deliver personalized fitness programs. Internships allow students to explore diverse career paths for Exercise Physiology graduates while building professional connections and gaining practical skills. These placements involve collaboration with healthcare providers, rehabilitation specialists, and fitness experts across various settings including sports performance centers, therapy clinics, corporate wellness initiatives, medical offices, and cardiac rehab programs, serving clients of all ages. All internship sites require approval from the program coordinator.
The coursework additionally equips students to pursue certifications from leading national organizations like the American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and International Society of Sports Nutrition.
