The Asian Studies program is an interdisciplinary initiative that gives students comprehensive knowledge about both historical and modern societies in East and Southeast Asia. Students can pursue either a major or minor in Asian Studies. Learning an Asian language is highly encouraged for all participants, with advanced language courses (beyond level 4) eligible for major credit.

Asian Studies majors select four foundational courses focused on either classical or modern Asian studies, including a required seminar. To ensure specialized expertise, majors must also complete an 18-semester-hour minor in their chosen field alongside their Asian Studies coursework.
