For many, creating positive change isn't just a motto but a driving purpose. If you share this commitment and wish to master collaborative problem-solving approaches, pursuing a social work degree could be your path. Assistance takes various forms - from personalized counseling with individuals and families to broader initiatives like community development and organizational growth. This diverse field examines how social challenges like poverty, health issues, family conflicts, and systemic inequalities impact people across different levels. Professionals in this field operate in numerous environments including healthcare facilities, educational institutions, government bodies, and social service organizations serving all age groups. Regardless of their workplace, social workers apply their expertise to enable others while transforming ineffective societal structures. The Bachelor of Social Work curriculum equips learners with essential knowledge, principles, and competencies to drive meaningful global improvement.
HPU's School of Social Work accommodates both traditional students and working professionals through flexible evening and weekend courses. Students benefit from accessible campus locations and exceptional exposure to diverse perspectives within and beyond academic settings. O'ahu's varied communities and social challenges provide rich opportunities for the supervised fieldwork that forms a crucial component of the bachelor's program. The university also serves as an ideal hub for international students aiming to adapt American social work techniques to their native cultural contexts. HPU's program cultivates socially conscious innovators dedicated to sustainable solutions. High-achieving undergraduates may qualify for the Advanced Standing MSW track, receiving up to one year of graduate credit - enabling completion of both bachelor's and master's degrees within five years (compared to the standard six-year timeline).
