The University of South Alabama's Bachelor of Arts in Social Work program blends rigorous academics with a dedication to social justice in a welcoming environment. Students learn from distinguished professors and industry professionals in the College of Arts and Sciences' Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work. This Council on Social Work Education-accredited program equips graduates for generalist practice across diverse fields including mental health services, child protection, family support, healthcare systems, corrections, and addiction recovery. Prospective majors begin as pre-professional students, fulfilling core liberal arts requirements and meeting GPA standards before advancing to the professional program. Upper-level coursework focuses on developing intervention skills for working with clients across various systems. Seniors complete hands-on field placements at regional social service organizations. The BSW degree qualifies graduates for accelerated admission to Master of Social Work programs nationwide.
Applicants must have completed a secondary schools with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5. English Proficiency Requirement: Minimum IELTS: 5.5, Minimum TOEFL: 61, Minimum Pearson Academic: 44, Minimum iTEP: 3.6, Minimum Duolingo: 95.
