HPU provides a challenging chemistry and biochemistry curriculum designed to equip students for advanced studies, health profession programs, or immediate entry into scientific careers, with options for traditional tracks and pre-health specializations. Our chemistry curriculum aligns with the American Chemical Society (ACS) standards for undergraduate education, while our biochemistry programs follow the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) recommendations. Students cultivate critical thinking, laboratory expertise, and communication abilities essential for success in scientific fields. Faculty mentors guide students through practical learning opportunities, including undergraduate research and lab courses that mirror real-world academic, industrial, and government laboratory environments.
Chemistry explores the composition of matter—the fundamental building blocks of our universe, our planet, and life itself. This discipline forms the cornerstone of natural sciences, underpinning fields like biochemistry, biology, genetics, environmental and marine sciences, engineering, and astronomy. Chemistry also serves as ideal preparation for health-related careers in medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, and veterinary medicine.
Through chemistry studies, students gain insights into molecular-level processes that govern our world. This foundational knowledge opens doors not just to chemistry-focused roles (such as education, biotech, pharmaceuticals, and materials science), but also to opportunities in medicine, environmental protection, energy innovation, and other science-driven sectors.
