The Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (BAEED) cultivates skilled educators who thoughtfully apply their knowledge while committing to teaching excellence and educational innovation. This standards-based program combines hands-on learning with research-focused coursework, utilizing advanced educational technology to blend subject matter with teaching methods. Through an e-portfolio evaluation approach, university instructors and mentoring educators support each candidate's growth in developing professional expertise, abilities, and attitudes.
At Hawaii Pacific University, the BAEED Elementary Education program shapes future teachers into capable, compassionate professionals through interactive classroom learning and practical school experiences. Aspiring educators benefit from small class sizes and personalized guidance from both faculty and mentor teachers. The curriculum qualifies graduates for K-6 teaching certification.
Undergraduate participants complete two semesters of hands-on training, dedicating 225 hours each term at assigned schools. School placements consider multiple aspects: instructional approach, current employment at the institution, residential proximity, work schedule compatibility, and other practical considerations. The program strives to ensure these clinical experiences provide substantial, applicable, and rigorous learning opportunities for all participants.
