The goal of the PhD program in Human Evolutionary Biology is to equip students with thorough training needed to explore the fundamental question: How has evolution shaped human characteristics? Our multidisciplinary method incorporates both field and laboratory studies across various specialties such as:

Reproductive endocrinology
Behavioral biology and human ecology
Primate behavioral ecology and biology
Paleobiology of humans and primates
Biomechanics experimentation
Human physiological studies
Genetic and genomic research on primates and humans
Biological development
Cognitive studies in humans and other primates

Qualification Requirements

Each year, the department accepts a small cohort of outstanding doctoral students from a broad range of undergraduate backgrounds whose research interests correspond with those of the department's junior and senior faculty. Our graduate students come from many different undergraduate programs, including anthropology, biology, chemistry, engineering, genetics, and psychology. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree. Applicants must receive a minimum score of 80 for the TOEFL, and it is not common for applicants to be admitted with TOEFL scores below 90. The minimum IELTS Academic score is 6.5. Some programs may require higher scores. Application Deadline: Dec 1.
