Governors State University is dedicated to helping students thrive academically and professionally. Offering outstanding and accessible education, GovState equips students with the confidence and abilities necessary for success. We value inclusivity and diversity while fostering personal, cultural, civic, and career development. Whether you're starting your educational journey or taking a new direction, we're honored you've selected Governors State University for your Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education.
Our Elementary Education program focuses on preparing future teachers (grades 1-6) who are dedicated to supporting diverse learners. These students come with varying backgrounds, experiences, socioeconomic circumstances, racial and ethnic identities, cognitive abilities, physical capabilities, neurological differences, languages, gender identities, sexual orientations, and other aspects of privilege or diversity.
The Elementary Education program is devoted to cultivating the next generation of educators that today's children—and tomorrow's evolving society—require. We demonstrate effective teaching methods, encourage reflective learning practices, establish partnerships with local schools for hands-on training, and provide continuous opportunities for our candidates to develop their instructional skills through interactions with students, mentors, and fellow educators.
