The Gonzaga Music Department serves as a dynamic hub for musical performance and academic exploration, welcoming both music majors and students from other fields. Students and faculty at Gonzaga blend artistic mastery with forward-thinking approaches within a liberal arts framework, engaging in concerts, festivals, touring productions, cross-disciplinary projects, and scholarly inquiry. Whether pursuing music as a primary focus or secondary interest, students unite their artistic dedication with commitments to leadership and societal contribution. Through their artistry, musicians empower communities locally and globally to motivate others, pioneer innovative approaches, and foster connections across cultures. We encourage all students to join musical groups and take individual instruction, irrespective of their academic concentration. This qualification authorizes graduates to instruct music at primary and secondary levels in Washington state and 47 partner states, with specialization options in choral/general or instrumental/general music education.
