The Music Department provides a Bachelor of Music program focused on Music Education, equipping future educators to teach music across all grade levels from early childhood through high school. Students pursuing this path earn Kansas state certification for K-12 instruction, typically specializing in either instrumental or vocal music. Alongside intensive training in their primary performance area, the curriculum covers essential music education components including conducting techniques, instructional methodologies, and skill development across all instrument families (woodwinds, brass, strings, keyboards, voice, and percussion). Teaching competencies are cultivated through hands-on classroom experiences early in the program.
