The field of journalism is undergoing swift transformation as audiences demand reliable reporting from diverse outlets. Our Journalism Program combines essential media production skills with the foundations of ethical reporting. The curriculum highlights journalism's impact on civic engagement and political involvement, while aligning with the University's commitment to social justice awareness. Many GU journalism students contribute to the campus weekly, The Gonzaga Bulletin, where majors can earn both academic credit and financial compensation. Others gain real-world experience through internships that frequently open doors to positions at leading media companies after graduation. Journalism majors will: Develop expertise in explaining journalism's function within democratic societies and global political systems, viewed through historical perspectives. Acquire skills in collecting newsworthy information through research, interviews, and firsthand observation, then crafting stories in proper journalistic formats using gathered facts.
As an applicant for admission, you are expected to graduate from an accredited high school with a college preparatory curriculum.
