If you're curious about current events and eager to immerse yourself in compelling stories, journalism could be your ideal career path. Journalists work across various media platforms including television, print publications, digital media, social networks, or even as independent media entrepreneurs. The journalism curriculum covers diverse subjects like long-form storytelling, digital content creation, broadcast production, and online publishing. These courses develop skills in writing, photography, video production, social media management, and digital publishing. Beyond academics, students gain valuable experience through extracurricular involvement. At the University of Memphis, students can join prestigious groups like the Society of Professional Journalists and the National Association of Black Journalists. These organizations facilitate networking with peers and industry experts across print, broadcast, and digital journalism. Members also benefit from attending regional and national conferences hosted by these professional associations.
