The Department of Modern Languages and Literature aims to equip students for global citizenship, instilling the responsibility, compassion, cultural awareness, and dedication to equity that characterize Jesuit education. Our academic program pursues three primary objectives: enabling students to confidently use languages in practical situations, cultivating thoughtful analysis and critical discussion through diverse cultural studies, and nurturing the intercultural skills needed to build authentic relationships across cultural boundaries. The German language program enhances your listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency while deepening your knowledge of German-speaking nations' heritage. Students may pursue a German minor through our department.
