The Child and Adolescent Development AA-T is tailored for students seeking transfer options beyond traditional classroom-based programs. This degree serves as an alternative pathway for those drawn to the interdisciplinary study of child and youth development. It provides foundational coursework accepted by CSUF, CSULB, and CSUDH, preparing students for diverse career opportunities involving children and families, including elementary education, special education, and related fields. Those aiming for preschool teaching positions or pursuing a Child Development Teaching Permit should instead complete the Early Childhood AS-T requirements. The curriculum supports students transferring to CSU programs in Child Development, Human Development, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Liberal Studies with a Child Development focus. As this represents the standard transfer pathway to CSUs, students are encouraged to consult with a GWC counselor to create a formal Student Educational Plan, particularly if considering non-CSU institutions or needing clarification about the AA-T in Child and Adolescent Development for CSU transfer.
