Economics has been a cornerstone of academic study at North Dakota State University for many years. NDSU economics majors benefit from learning under an experienced and respected faculty. Since students from every college on campus enroll in economics courses, these classes foster diverse perspectives through peer interactions.
The Department provides three specialized paths for economics majors: general economics, quantitative economics, and business economics. The general track allows greater choice in course selection, requiring 18 credits of economics electives with up to six credits applicable from agricultural economics, finance, or business administration. For those aiming for graduate studies or preferring a math-intensive approach, the quantitative track is ideal, particularly suited for students with strong analytical skills. The business economics path prepares students for corporate careers by mandating specific business and accounting coursework through the College of Business.
