Pursuing a law and economics degree at CMU will equip you with critical thinking skills to analyze complex scenarios and predict responses.

This distinctive program, among only a few nationwide, provides essential reasoning and argumentation abilities for aspiring law students while offering comprehensive insights into legal frameworks and individual rights that enhance various fields.

Economic theory courses will sharpen your analytical and decision-making capabilities, while business law classes introduce fundamental concepts like contracts, property rights, discrimination issues, and business regulations. You'll also enjoy flexibility to explore complementary subjects. (An alternative version through our College of Business Administration includes additional business requirements with fewer electives.)

As a law and economics student, you will:

Enroll in Michigan's exclusive combined law and economics program.
Gain practical experience through initiatives like The Capital City Internship Program (CCIP), offering Lansing-based government internships for professional networking and civic understanding.
Master the specialized terminology of legal and microeconomic analysis.
Participate in Phi Alpha Delta, the pre-law fraternity for future legal professionals.
Develop expertise in U.S. legal procedures and cultivate persuasive writing techniques for legal arguments.
